The family member's country of residence does not affect the right to claim. The entire process can be managed remotely via an apostilled power of attorney. Travel to Ukraine is not required.
Since July 2025 (Law 4546-IX), soldiers who died in captivity are entitled to the same 15M UAH regardless of the cause of death. This applies retroactively from 24 Feb. 2022.
No. The 15,000,000 UAH compensation is fully tax-exempt under current Ukrainian law.
The family has 3 years from the date of death to file the application. After this deadline, the right to compensation may lapse. Do not wait — every month that passes is one month less of margin and one month less of instalments collected.
